Tissue Conditioning and Relining

Tissue Conditioning and Relining

Sometimes if your dentures are old and ill-fitting, your mouth and gums below the dentures can become damaged and traumatized. Your tissues may be swollen and inflamed. They can also look less natural, damaging your confidence and your self-esteem. Complete or partial denture bases are made of hard acrylic plastic resin. The bone and soft tissues underneath a denture respond to the pressure of use by resorbing. These hard denture materials retain their relative shape over time, but the underlying tissues do not. These dentures rest on the soft tissue which over time will eventually change (both the soft external tissue and bone underneath. Tissue conditioning involves adding a soft lining material to the fitting surface of your existing dentures to facilitate healing and to allow you to continue to wear your dentures while the healing process takes place.

Flexible Dentures

Flexible Dentures

These are innovative, lightweight removable dentures with adequate strength. Their flexibility allows them to adapt to the constant movements in the mouth. They require non-invasive procedures. They require no adhesives, will adjust to irregularities in your mouth, and stay in place even under harsh chewing Conditions. They are very durable under normal conditions of usage and are cosmetically pleasing, too.

Dentures

Dentures

The most common cause for losing a tooth is either gum disease or severe tooth decay. Dentures refer to false teeth. These are artificial replacements for missing teeth that can be taken out and put back in your mouth. They are made of a flesh-coloured acrylic base that fits over the gums. They can be made for both the upper and lower jaw. They can be used to replace a single tooth, a few teeth, or all the teeth. Dentures improve chewing ability and also provide support to the lips and Cheeks. They can be used to correct the closed jaw appearance due to missing teeth. They help in improving the pronunciation of certain words spoken by the association of front teeth. No doubt, they enhance the self-esteem of the patient.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

Many times you must have heard that a part of the tooth was broken while eating food. If just a small fragment, then filling is what you require, and if a big part is lost then you must go for a crown. A crown is a full-coverage restoration of a tooth that provides structural durability and at the same time restores the function of the tooth. A crown is also mandatory if any of your teeth have undergone root canal treatment. The tooth becomes a little brittle after RCT. Placing a crown increases its life many times. Sometimes there may be gaps between the teeth that are otherwise smaller in size. These are good candidates for crowns. You may have lost a tooth because of decay or an accident. This missing tooth can change your smile, and facial profile and generate undue stress on the remaining teeth while eating. The missing tooth can be replaced with a bridge. It is an artificial tooth connected between two crowns that are permanently cemented on the adjacent teeth. Dr. Gupta’s clinic provides you with a wide range of crowns that suit your treatment plan as well as your pockets. There are full metal crowns ( used in very specific cases nowadays), porcelain with a metal backing to give both strength and esthetics to your tooth, and finally all-ceramic crowns with unsurpassable esthetics and good strength- suited for both front and back teeth.
